Video Summary
Nicole Paul from Nomic Bio presented a high-throughput proteomics platform for profiling secreted proteins to distinguish immune modulation from toxicity in drug discovery. Using the Omni1000/NLISA system, Nomic can measure 1,000 proteins across 10,000 samples with high sensitivity. In large screens of hepatocytes, microglia, and cardiomyocytes, proteomics identified inflammatory suppression, cytotoxicity, and organ-specific toxicity, often earlier than cell painting. The approach predicted clinical toxicity in 80% of cases and was applied to consortium studies and organoid models, showing promise for mechanistic insight and safety prediction before clinical development.
