Video Summary
The speaker studied how the transcription factor ALOS affects lung resident memory CD8 T cells (TRM). Using OT1 mouse adoptive transfer and influenza infection, ALOS-deficient CD8 T cells showed fewer lung CD8 cells, fewer peripheral tissue cells, and fewer TRM at both early and memory stages. Mechanistically, ALOS appears to promote TRM by repressing EOMES, enhancing TGF-beta receptor 1 expression and SMAD2/3 signaling, and supporting memory precursor and TRM precursor formation. These findings suggest ALOS is important for lung immune memory and could be targeted to improve vaccines or reduce lung disease.
