Henry Metzger (1932–2018) was a scientist emeritus of the Intramural Research Program of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) at the National Institutes of Health and was formerly chief of the Section on Chemical Immunology and scientific director of the Intramural Research Program at the NIAMS. Dr. Metzger was president of The American Association of Immunologists from 1991 to 1992, secretary-treasurer from 1970 to 1986, and served on the AAI Council from 1986 to 1993. He was awarded the AAI Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 and the AAI Distinguished Service Award in 1986.
