This educational activity is intended for AAI members and clinicians.

The goal of this activity is to bridge the gap between basic science and patient care by showing that T1D is an autoimmune disorder and how today's targeted therapies provide better options for patients.

Upon completion of this activity, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe the immunological mechanisms underlying T1D pathogenesis
  2. Apply the staged model of T1D progression (stages 1–3) to identify opportunities for early intervention
  3. Integrate knowledge of poly-autoimmunity in T1D into comprehensive clinical management
